Two hour prostate surgery today starting at about 10:30 am. Wish me well. The procedure is called a TURP, to reduce the size of an enlarged gland, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. If everything goes well they’ll send me home before dark, and then back in Thursday to have the catheter removed. I’m bringing three powerful allies: my dedicated life partner, an appreciation for impermanence, and a commitment to keep my sense of humor. I’ll let you know how it goes.

My surgery went very well today. I was awake and comfortable for the whole thing. Came home at 5 pm feeling amazingly good. Now that the anesthetic and pain meds are wearing off I have some discomfort, but that’s par for the course. And of course, thank you to all of you who sent your good wishes and prayers. You are truly my fourth powerful ally. Bless you all.
