Scott Harris

From Elementary teaching, Psychotherapy overview, and Spiritual Steppingstones August 8, 2008

Teaching at West Vernon Elementary there was a disruptive incident that led to months of intense, very stressful, career threatening drama. At one point a parent filed a police complaint against me for child abuse. The teacher’s union’s law firm assigned a lawyer to defend me. She advised me to enter counseling for anger management because it would look good to the administrative judge who would hear my case. I called the Employee Assistance Program and connected with Scott Harris.

During the ensuing year I changed jobs from elementary teacher to high school librarian, we moved out of the Zen Center, Rebecca started college, and the 9/11 attacks took place. I really appreciated the support of weekly counseling during this time of major life transition. My  journal of the year with Scott is posted here
